The Many Natural Attractions of Virginia Beach

Why go somewhere with just beaches or another with just hills? Why not both? Why not a place where you can spend one day doing a forest photoshoot and the next lounging on the sands?

Virginia Beach offers it all, and people travel from all over just to experience it!

Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge

From sunrise to sunset, this wildlife refuge has a little bit of everything. You can hike or kayak and spend an entire day adventuring around this region. They even have special events and activities some days so be sure to check their calendar before you visit

When it comes to wildlife, you'll be able to encounter rare birds and even baby sea turtles!

First Landing State Park

With over 2,800 acres, there's plenty to explore here.

First Land State Park is great if you have a diverse group of people that want to do a lot of different things. Some can hang out and sunbathe on the beach while others can hike the trails and look for birds.

This park gets its name because it was one of the regions where early settlers first landed.

A section of the land is a part of the National Natural Landmark program so if you're looking for a picture of history this won't come up short!

Neptune's Park

Perfect if you're new to the area, perfect if you've lived here for years!

Neptune's Park hosts dozens of events throughout the year, the biggest of which is the Free Summer Concert Series.

Who doesn't like a free concert? If you're looking to snag some food, meet new people, and enjoy quality music, make sure you put Neptune's Park on your list of places to enjoy!

It runs along the boardwalk of the naturally beautiful North Atlantic Ocean as well, so make sure you spend some time appreciating the great waves!

Sandbridge Beach

Enjoy time on the peninsula with the Atlantic Ocean on each side.

Sandbridge Beach is more of a local secret than a tourist trap, which makes it great for family getaways or if you're just trying to get acquainted with the area.

It's known for its stellar sands and marshy fields, so if you're looking to rest or do activities like hiking and kayaking, Sandbridge Beach is a perfect starting point.

Mount Trashmore Park

A park made on a mound of old trash?

This unique park, created on an old landfill, boasts two lakes, two human-made mountains, two playgrounds, a skate park, and several multi-use paths.

Mount Trashmore Park represents one of the beauties of modern environmental sciences! It is also a fantastic place to spend a day outside in Virginia Beach.
