Are you bummed that the summer has ended? Well, get excited, because there are lots of things to do in Virginia Beach in the fall!

After Labor Day the outdoor activities remain fantastic. Even the kiddos will love the change of seasons.

If you're looking for outdoor fun this fall in Virginia, keep reading. Here are three great things to do in autumn in VA.

1. Check Out the Oyster Festivals

Celebrate the oyster season in Virginia. Get out and attend an oyster festival and enjoy your oysters raw, baked, steamed, fried, or grilled. There's something special about an oyster from Virginia waters.

Join one of the best parties on Virginia Beach at the Annual Pig and Oyster Fest on October 21, 2018, at 24th Street on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. In addition to the famed oysters, visitors enjoy BBQ, beer, wine, and live music with proceeds supporting the Virginia Beach Surf and Rescue Museum.

Or, head to the country’s largest and longest-running oyster festival Urbanna Oyster Festival, November 2-3, 2018.

Located on the Rappahannock River the charming town of Urbanna closes its street to vehicles during the event and vendor booths line the streets. You’ll find plenty of oysters, seafood dishes, live music, and crafts. An oyster shucking contest is the highlight of the festival which draws spectators from around the world.

2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

You haven't seen a pumpkin patch until you've seen one in Virginia. The trees turn fantastic shades of orange and red, and the pumpkins dot the yellow fields.

Families and friends meet at pumpkin patches all season long in Virginia Beach. There's something enjoyable about walking through the fields searching for the best pumpkin, not to mention the gorgeous scenery.

One such place is at the Hunt Club Farm Fall Harvest Fair which runs September 28-October 31, 2018 and provides bushels of fun activities for the whole family!

The Hampton Roads’ biggest and best Fall Harvest Fair features Virginia Beach’s biggest pumpkin patch, a petting farm, farm-tour hayrides, and pony rides! Fun and excitement continue on the weekends with inflatables, carnival rides, food vendors, games, and a DJ with music. Feed the goats, chase chickens and enjoy a variety of animals at the petting farm.

If you're looking to get photos taken this season, consider taking them at a pumpkin patch.

3. Attend Some Beer Festivals

Virginia has some of the country's best breweries. While you could book a brewery tour at one of these excellent locations, you could also check out a beer festival.

Or, check out the Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival, October 20-21, 2018, for more indie brands. Here you'll find all the local breweries in Virginia. Sample a few or buy some to take home.
